Who we are

We are a collaborative network of pharmacy teams across North East and North Cumbria, South Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire Integrated Care Boards, and the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.

Together, we commission and deliver high quality pharmacy and medicines management services that directly support the health and wellbeing of 8.7 million people—making a meaningful difference in communities across the region.

What we do

Pharmacy plays a crucial role in healthcare by ensuring the safe, effective, and responsible use of medicines. Core functions include prescribing prescriptions, dispensing prescriptions, advising patients on medication use, supporting long term condition management, and promoting healthier lifestyles.

Pharmacy teams also lead on medicines management—overseeing the selection, procurement, and optimisation of medicines to improve outcomes and reduce waste.

About our region

The region is home to a diverse network of NHS trusts, including Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, one of the largest in the country, and supports a health and social care workforce of over 460,000 people.

The total annual spend on medicines in the North East and Yorkshire region is approximately £1.95 billion, accounting for 13.1% of the UK’s total prescription expenditure. This significant investment reflects the scale of healthcare delivery in the region and the vital role pharmacy teams play in ensuring safe, effective, and value driven use of medicines to support the health and wellbeing of our communities.
